Cleaning has never been more important with those trying to keep germs and bacteria out of their homes. Claire Nicholas, founder of Squeekyshop.co.uk, has a range of organic cleaning products with natural ingredients from garlic and citrus that can be used to clean the home. However she has shared her tips with the Express.co.uk on how you can make your own at home.
Ovens can often get very dirty with grease and food spills that have escaped from the dishes during cooking.
These stains can be very hard to remove and need to be done with caution as certain cleaning products can react with the heat from the oven.
Claire says: “For small spills in the oven from pies or casseroles apply salt to it.
“This will stop smoke and make your cleaning job a whole lot easier.”

This should be done when the spill is new to get the best results but make sure not to burn yourself in the process.
Rust stains can often appear in places like the bathroom and keeping it at bay can be daunting because moisture will always be present.
Claire says: “For removing rust stains in the bathroom, apply lemon juice directly and clean with a toothbrush.”
The toothbrush will allow you to reach all the small crevices and work the lemon juice into them.

The acid in the lemon juice will help break down dirt and bacteria found in soap scum. You should leave the lemon juice on for a whole to allow it to work and then rinse away with water.
Brass needs to be cleaned often to keep it shiny and in good condition.
It usually needs to be polished with a brass cleaner but Claire has shared a natural way to clean it.
She says: “Apply salt directly to a lemon cut in half. Then squeeze on to the brass, wipe off with a cloth and buff off with a clean cloth.
“A bit messy, but very satisfying.”
Salt makes a good scrub for many surfaces around the home as it is quite abrasive.
When mixed with lemon, it can create a powerful multi-purpose cleaner and the smell of lemon will leave your home smelling refreshed for hours.
Blocked drains are very common in many households and can be caused by items clogging pipes and obstructing drains.
There are many drain products on the market but they come at a price and often don’t cure the blockage with one use.
Claire says: “Apply 50ml of bicarbonate of soda and directly after apply the same amount of white wine vinegar.
“Leave for 30 minutes and then turn on the tap. A natural and non-harmful way of clearing out the nasty build up.”
White wine vinegar is a great natural cleaning product that can help break down fat and food residues that cause pipe blockages.
