With the UK in lockdown, many people are using their spare time to deep clean the home in an attempt to keep the home germ free.

One user shared an amazing hack on how to remove hair and dust from your carpet onto the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page.

Posting on the group, the woman wrote: “Amazing hack I just have to share with you all! I do this once a week and the build up is shocking.

“I have a dog so for me it gets all the dust and hair the Hoover can’t! Just the usual shower/window screen squeegee- can get from Wilko, Poundland!”

The woman attached a clip of herself dragging a window squeegee across the carpet which pulled up the pet hair that was embedded into it.

This affordable product can be picked up for as little as £1.

Another cleaning fan revealed on the Facebook group Hinch Army Cleaning how her 59p squeegee from Home Bargains also did the job and removed all of the hair from her daughter’s dirty carpet.

She wrote how she was “shocked” at the amount of long hair that had built up on the carpet.

Hoovers often only pick up the top layer of dirt on a carpet and do not get into the hair that can become imbedded into it.

Cleaning fans were quick to comment on the post, saying that they were keen to try the trick out themselves.

Other people added their own advice for cleaning carpets, including using a rubber brush that they purchased at Home Bargains.

Mrs Hinch herself has also demonstrated to fans on Instagram that this trick really does work.
