Volvo’s sexy new EX90 is a seven-seat SUV with a 360-mile electric range and 30 sensors to keep your family safe | The Sun

VOLVO has revealed its new all-electric seven-seat SUV, the EX90.

It joins the Volvo XC90, which has long been one of Britain's favourite posh family cars.

The XC90 will continue to be sold alongside the EX90 as a plug-in hybrid only.

But swapping 'X' with an 'E' should give you some idea of what this new SUV is about; electricity.

Two versions will be available at launch, called the Twin Motor Ultra and Twin Motor Performance Ultra, with first deliveries in 2024.

Both launch models get a massive 111kWh battery in the middle and a motor at each end for all-wheel drive, but either 408 or 517hp.

It's no lightweight at a staggering 2.8 tonnes, but this large EV SUV will still crack a sprint to 62mph in less than five seconds.

The big battery also means an impressive 360-mile range, but with the right charger, it can also be taken from 10-80% in less than half an hour.

Volvo reckons you can use the EX90 to power a range of things too, like other EVs, laptops and power tools – even your house.

A large part of the XC90's popularity is its practicality inside and the new EX90 promises to be the same.

There's seating for seven inside and if it's anything like the XC90, the EX90's rearmost pews will be good for adults rather than just kids.

Throw in a massive 655-litre boot and you're left with an electric car that's great for a family.

They'll be safe too, because Volvo includes 30 different cameras and sensors that help with everything from semi-autonomous driving to scanning your eyes for tiredness and letting no if you've left a child or pet inside.

The EX90 is being pitched as a premium SUV, so although there's 50kg of recycled materials about the place expect high quality inside.

All versions also come with a large Tesla-style portrait touchscreen on the dash and another screen for the driver's dials.

Now to the price, but brace yourself. The Volvo EX90 launch car in top-spec Ultra trim starts at £96,255 or £1,599 a month.

A cheaper version will be along later with less equipment and possibly less power.
